LALIBELA - 3-DAY TOUR

ITINERARY

Lalibela is home to Ethiopia's top attraction, one of the world's greatest historical and religious sites. Several astonishing rock-hewn churches were built in Lalibela between the 11th and 12th centuries, created from huge single blocks of stone excavated by digging huge pits. - DAY 01. At morning, flight from Addis Abeba to Lalibela. Picking up from Lalibela Airport. Early afternoon: visit the northern group of rock-hewn churches including St George's Church (Bete Giyorgis), the most famous and often photographed one. Overnight at Sora Lodge - DAY 02. At morning, trek to the rock church of Asheten Mariam, which sits at an altitude of 3000m. The church is carved out of a crevice in the rock face. The real treasure is the setting and the view. In the afternoon, visit of the eastern group of five churches includes the only hypogean church where only the roof remains attached to the rock above. Overnight at the Sora Lodge. - DAY 03. After breakfast, take the shuttle for dropping off at Lalibela airport. Flight back to Addis Abeba.
