ITINERARY
Discover the authentic magic of Addis Ababa by visiting the most historical and cultural highlights on a full day city tour with private guide and driver. STOP 1: Holy Trinity Cathedral Holy Trinity Cathedral is the highest Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo cathedral in Addis Built in 1942 to commemorate the Ethiopian victory over the Italian occupation, inside are the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen Asfaw, as well as other members of the imperial family. STOP 2: Tomoca Coffee Located in the Piazza area, Tomoca is the oldest coffee shop in Ethiopia (since 1953). STOP 3: Mercato Market Mercato is the largest open-air market in Africa, covering several square miles and employing an estimated 13,000 people in 7,100 business units divided into organised zones (agricultural produce, incense, coffee, spices, jewellery, baskets, pottery, leather goods, metal goods). STOP 4: Itegue Taitu Hotel Lunch at the oldest hotel in Addis Ababa. The Taitu Hotel was built in 1905 by Taitu Betul, the Ethiopian Empress and wife of Emperor Menelik II, to provide a place for foreign guests to rest and dine. Alternative locations for lunch are available. Lunch is not included in the price of the tour. STOP 5: National Museum of Ethiopia The palaeontological exhibition contains many valuable local archaeological finds, such as the fossilised remains of early hominids, the most famous of which is "Lucy". The collection is one of the most important in sub-Saharan Africa. STOP 6: Ethnological Museum Located in the former palace of Haile Selassie and surrounded by the beautiful gardens and fountains of the main university campus, the Ethnological Museum houses anthropological, musicological and cultural objects. STOP 7: Entoto Nature Park Situated at an altitude of 3400 metres, Entoto Natural Park was the permanent camp and palace of the former Emperor Minilik II. From the top, there are panoramic views of the capital and the surrounding countryside. STOP 8: Shiro Meda Market Shiro Meda Market (also spelled "Chiromeda") sells Ethiopian textiles in all their forms, from Ethiopian wedding dresses to various types of clothing, linens and fabrics.
